We have designed thousands of hours of experiential learning for teachers, long-term planning processes for schools, and regular ol’ hour-long meetings for teams of all kinds. We’ve learned that unless what’s being designed for is actively aiming to subvert the racial, gendered capitalist system that shapes all our lives, it will probably replicate it. This goes for the design process too, and so: we take our time, we pause in the sticky parts, we pay attention to joy, and we stay with each other.
